Where can we have our photo session?
Anywhere! I shoot on location, which in our beautiful state of AZ tends to be outdoors most of the time (with the exception of newborns, which are always at your home indoors). I travel all around the Phoenix general area for photo sessions so if you have a place that is special to you, just let me know! I do have lots of great places to suggest, and am always up for trying out new locations. Once your session is booked, if there are any images on my website that you love let me know and we can talk about that location.
What to wear?
Wear whatever makes you comfortable! If you aren’t comfy, then your smiles won’t come as naturally as they otherwise would. I don’t want you to spend the session pulling down a shirt that keeps riding up just because it matches your toddlers’ pants. Colorful layers generally look great, as does fun jewelry. If you have any hats, blankets or clothes you’d like your newborn to be photographed in, please make sure they are out and ready upon my arrival. And I am always happy to hold a skype session or call prior to your shoot to go over your wardrobe and the general look & feel for your session.
How else do we prepare?
Once you book your session I will send you detailed information on how best to prepare for your photo shoot. And I’m always available via email and phone to discuss any specific questions or concerns you may have.
When should I book my maternity session for?
Ideally this shoot will take place early in your third trimester, around 32-35 weeks. Please contact me as soon as you know when that will be.
When should I book my newborn session for?
The most ideal time for your newborn to be photographed in all their newness is between 5 and 10 days old. Usually during this time they will sleep long enough to get some beautiful sleepy shots as well as some eyes open ones. However, we will always work around baby’s schedule and take as many milk breaks as necessary! Please call to book your newborn session in the months prior to your baby being born to ensure availability.
Do you offer a ‘Baby’s First Year Package’?
I find that most parents want to mark their baby’s milestones but don’t necessarily need a full session to do so. Therefor, if you book a newborn session with me, I offer a mini maternity session, as well as unlimited mini sessions until your baby is one year old. Most parents choose a maternity, one year, and two additional baby mini sessions spread out within the first year.
When can we expect our photos?
Within 2-3 weeks of your photo session you will receive the link to view your photo gallery online. At this time you will choose the items you would like to purchase and I will then begin the ordering process for you.
Where do you purchase your cards, photo prints, canvases, frames, standouts and other items?
I do my purchasing through companies whose quality I have tested and love, and are only available to professional photographers.
If I purchase high-resolution JPGs, where should I have those printed?
With any purchased jpgs I included a print recommendation guide. Ultimately it is your decision as to where to print, but I do recommend purchasing prints and various other products through certain companies available to you. I also include visual images and examples as to why where you print is so important.
What kind of training do you have?
When I first decided I wanted to turn my passion for photography into a real, legit business, I read everything I possibly could about it. My time was consumed with reading, practicing, practicing and reading. Since that time, I have taken several online classes and workshops, as well as an intensive in-person workshop with Michele Anderson of Pinkle Toes Photography in Austin, TX. I am always still learning, discovering and developing and am so looking forward to my next adventure!
